Virtual Open Evening
Join us for our Virtual Open Evening! This is your chance to hear about the school from the leadership team, familiarise yourself with a video tour of the school and there will be time for your questions.
This information is particularly suited to First School pupils in Year 4 and their parents and carers and also for Year 6 pupils from nearby Primary Schools who we welcome to apply for the limited number of places we have for entry into Year 7.

Penkridge Middle School is a great school and I am delighted to welcome you to our website. Being part of the ‘Wolgarston Collaboration’ of schools, we take pupils from the four local First Schools as well as other pupils from out of catchment at the start of Year 5, with our pupils feeding into Wolgarston High School or The Rural Enterprise Academy (TREA), at the end of Year 8.
In April 2018 we converted to academy status along with Wolgarston, Marshbrook and Princefield to form ‘Penk Valley Academy Trust’. Since then St. John’s CE (VC) First School, St. Mary & St Chad C of E (VC) First School and TREA have also joined Penk Valley Academy Trust.
Having worked as part of the Senior Leadership Team of the school for over 15 years, I was appointed to the post of Headteacher in February 2017 and I am working extremely hard to lead both our teaching and support staff to ensure that the school continually strives to raise standards of learning, whilst maintaining our very safe and supportive environment for all of our pupils.
Our most recent Ofsted (March 2017), graded the school as ‘Good Overall’ and as ‘Outstanding’ for pupils’ personal development and welfare.
Our Leadership Team consists of myself, Deputy Headteacher Mr Grocutt and Assistant Headteacher Mr Meredith. We are supported by our Office Manager Mrs Blakeway, as well as our Extended Leadership Team.
The children benefit from Subject Specialist facilities and a mixture of Primary and Specialist Teachers, but are also supported by their ‘Class Teacher’ who they go to at the start and end of each day to help develop their pastoral and good learner skills, as well as to develop a love of reading through rich texts.
Diversity and inclusion are both promoted and celebrated at our school and our vision and values are underpinned by British Values, Global Goals and also the Safeguarding, not only of our children, but also of the whole school community.
Teaching and Learning, developed through Visible Learning and the development of Oracy skills, is at the heart of what we do well and we also promote success through a broad and balanced curriculum, including many extra-curricular clubs, school trips and themed days.
Please take the time to have a look around our website and if you are interested in your child attending our school then please contact the school office on 01785 413400 to see if we have places available.
