Reading
Reading is fundamental to personal growth, knowledge acquisition, and cognitive development. It opens doors to new worlds, ideas, and perspectives. Through books, articles, and other written materials, we gain insights into history, culture, science, and human experiences. Reading enhances vocabulary, critical thinking, and empathy. Whether for pleasure or education, dedicating time to reading enriches our lives and broadens our horizons.
Below shows our reading expectations as a school.
What happens? | What does this look like? |
When a child has read, this will be recorded by them in their reading record. | |
We expect that all pupils will read for at least 20 minutes per day, whether this is in school or at home. | The reading record is completed to reflect this. |
These quizzes should be completed at home as well as at school. |
Log into Accelerated Reader and complete a quiz once the book has been read. |
Form teachers will check reading records once a week. | One positive point will be awarded to those who complete the expected reading. |
